A day after diwali..

Oct 22nd, 2006 (Sunday). Listening to VH1 top 20 with Romir (Gobi) & Mansi. Yesterday was Romir's first Diwali. I really miss Benares during Diwali. The sweets, crackers, poojas & the starchy kurta payjama make me nostalgic. I wish I can vacation in India every Diwali-yeah, I agree its a dream!! How different it is while we live in Miami. Here we are sipping tea and listening to stupid & sexy Paris Hilton dropping off the VH1 music charts, where as in Benares, we would have been lsitening to bells ringing from a neighbouring temple & getting ready to perform the anookut pooja. Families are suppose to make 101 types of entress as offering for the gods. Since that was an impossible number, we prepared different types of vegetables that were available in the market and had 'kachauris' & 'pooris'--yummy. And now, 12 min after typing all this, Mansi calls out what we will have for breakfast and my answer--eggs and bread!
